Are you an experienced Accounts Senior ready to progress towards Client Manager?

Perhaps you’re already taking on responsibilities beyond your current role but don’t have the opportunity to progress. At AGJ Accountants, we’re looking for someone who is confident working independently, enjoys dealing directly with clients and is ready to take on greater responsibility.

The role

You’ll manage your own portfolio of clients, take ownership of accounts and tax work, and become a trusted point of contact.

We’re looking for someone who is already highly capable at Accounts Senior level and on the cusp of progressing to Client Manager. You may already be taking on some Client Manager responsibilities and feel ready for the opportunity to step up.

You’ll:

• Manage your own client portfolio and build strong relationships
• Complete accounts and tax work from start to finish
• Deal directly with clients and provide practical advice
• Review work and support junior team members
• Identify opportunities to add value for clients
• Develop your client management and business advisory skills

After your first six months, we’ll formally review your performance and development. If you’re ready to step up to Client Manager, we’ll discuss that progression and review your salary at the same time to reflect your increased responsibilities.

Who we’re looking for

You might currently be an Accounts Senior, Senior Accountant or similar, with significant practice experience and a genuine ambition to progress.

You don’t need to know everything from day one, but you should be comfortable working independently, taking ownership, using your judgement and finding solutions without constant direction.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• ACA/ACCA qualification or equivalent experience
• At least 3 years’ post-qualification experience in accountancy practice
• Strong SME and owner-managed business experience
• Good UK accounts and tax knowledge
• Experience managing your own client portfolio
• Confidence dealing directly with clients
• Good organisation and the ability to work independently
• Experience reviewing work and supporting junior team members
• Commercial awareness and an interest in helping clients beyond compliance
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
• Experience with Xero and cloud accounting software

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who takes ownership, uses good judgement, finds solutions and enjoys building strong client relationships.
